Father’s Day 2011

Happy Father's Day!!

Today was our first holiday as a 3 person family, and lucky for Charlie, it was Father’s Day.  Last night I was excited to give Charlie the gift that BBQ and I picked out for him, so just after midnight I gave it to him.  We picked out a card and a Willow Tree figurine entitled “New Dad.” Charlie has been a super awesome dad so far, so BBQ and I got him something a little sentimental.  BBQ gave Charlie an extra gift of sleeping a little bit longer during each sleep block.  It was an added bonus for me as well… especially since we had a busy day ahead of us…Our plans for the actual holiday involved going down to my parents’ camp for a little family time which included good food, great company, and a special treat for BBQ, his first boat ride.  My parents recently purchased a pontoon boat for fun down at camp.  Today was the first day that we got the boat into the water and everybody got a chance to go for a ride, including my 18 day old son.  We were a little crazy and forgot to bring a blanket for him, but besides that, we had a great time… Charlie ended up taking off his shirt to wrap around BBQ to keep him a touch warmer.  BBQ’s life jacket is an infant jacket, but it didn’t fit too well simply because we couldn’t move him up well enough so his face ended up being a little smooshed.  He slept through the entire first boat ride, but he seemed to enjoy it well enough…

The end of the day brought a visit from a good friend bringing news of her sister’s labor and delivery of BBQ newest friend.  BBQ and Baby Claire were due the same day, but were born 18 days apart.
