7 Months and Growing!

7 Months old!

Well, I neglected to write after Q’s doctor appointment on the 15th of December, but my boy is 15 lbs, 14 oz. and 26.5 inches tall. That puts him in the 15% and 43% respectively. His head circumference is 17.5 which is the 65%. He’s obviously super smart. The doctor had no concerns, and commented that he obviously liked his orange veggies because his skin was slightly orange/yellow at the nose.  His favorite veggies are squash and sweet potatoes, so I’m not surprised. He did pretty well with his shots.  Daddy was making faces at him to distract him, but he still didn’t get getting poked so many times.

In development news. Q’s first words showed up about a week and a half ago and in order to not pit Mommy against Daddy, he decided to say two words his first day.  There is a definite “Dada” and “Mama” going on.  He tends to say “Mama” when he’s upset, starting to cry, and wanting comfort and “Dada” is more for playing. So it’s perfect for us. Q can also sit all by himself and play now. He is pretty steady, but I keep his boppy behind him for “just in case” support when I’m not able to sit right behind him. No more pacifier for this little guy, he does suck his thumb to calm himself down… well, sometimes. He currently refuses to nap unless in my arms, which is a bit of a pain, but I still love him. No new teeth yet, but I did get a great shot of his teeth so far.  He’s working on tooth number 3 and I don’t think it’s going to be too long now until he gets it, but until then, I’ll enjoy looking at his current adorable smile.

What’s coming up next? Crawling and pulling himself up to sitting.  He seems to have the motions down for crawling, but he leaves his head down on the ground while he does it, which isn’t exactly working for him.  Charlie and I think that it’s because of the way he moves in his crib at night.  He works his way up from the bottom of the crib to the top by the time morning comes.

Since I last wrote Quentin has celebrated his first Christmas and New Year. We had a great time celebrating Christmas Eve at my family’s house.  Quentin met Santa there and he was even wearing matching clothes.  He got a few new diapers, an adorable outfit, lots of great toys (like a block sorting set and a toy dinosaur), and some books from his grandparents, aunts, uncles, and cousins. Quentin especially enjoyed the toys that made music that night. On Christmas Day Quentin opened a new sled and a cool cardboard town from Santa.  He also got some more books, diapers, and some food.  Grandma and Papa came and visited and we spent more time with Family.  On Wednesday, we trekked across the state to visit Nana and Uncle Andrew and Quentin got showered with gifts again.  He loved his Einstein Radio, ball, and book from Nana. He also got to love and play with My Pal Scout, which was a gift from Uncle Andrew.  That green dog is really cool and even calls out Quentin’s name!

New Years Eve was back at my parents’ house and I stayed up late, while Quentin napped upstairs on Daddy.  We went home after midnight and got our sleepy boy to bed.  He did great.

Unfortunately, our busy vacation meant that we didn’t get a lot of rest during the vacation.  We spent Q’s 7 month-a-versary relaxing, taking down the tree, and doing a bit of cleaning. The last two a lot tougher with a 7 month old.

We’re looking forward to a fun month!
